Ok TFF brain trust is there a difference in the rattling version or silent Square bills? I can see if the water is off color but i am currently using silent versions and still catching bass in off color water. What say y'all?

muddy or off color rattles, clear no rattles unless the bight is real slow than rattles may help wake them up.

I use both based on the bite. If they are aggresive I will use rattles. If not I will go with no rattles.

I live by silent. Honestly one of my best days with a silent squarebill and my budd in the front of the boat was theowing a rattle in chocolate milk water even in a sexy shad color. Ever since then I don't worry about color or rattles.

Baitfish don't rattle. And honestly I think color doesn't matter either. Usually it's going by them too fast for them to even get a good look at it anyway and it's more of a reaction than anything IMO

I think the rattle helps out a little with sluggish fish especially when you pop the SB off a stump or other cover. Most my bites come after bumping into a stump.

Reaction and once you get confidence in a no rattle bait it definately can make a difference in how many bites you get for the better in my opinion....

Bass buried up in grass I like a rattle...

silence is golden

Excellent point! I switched hands with a crank today and got bit because of the change of direction
