Had our annual spring camping trip at Lake Livingston State Park and my girlfriend caught her biggest fish yet. Went 10 lbs on the scale we had, just looking for what type of carp/buffalo from you experts. Was caught on an ultra light with 6 lb test and some stink bait:

Yep. Buffalo.

Was that the KVD combo from Wal Mart? I've been thinking about getting a couple of those for pond fishing. Also, Ya gotta love the Bank Buddies!

It was the Abu Ike duke or something from academy. I think I bought 2 of them at $25 each.

Thanks for the ID. She definitely had fun.

Congrats! Smallmouth buffalo. If you want to catch a few more (and usually bigger) you should come out and fish with us at one of our WCC events or send me a PM. We only have one more event and its in Beaumont but somebody in the Houston area is almost always out carp fishing every weekend and we'd be happy to fish with you. I also live in your neck of the woods.

Ya I think I was more excited for her than she was herself! She enjoys bream fishing, as do I, but when it comes down to it, we both just love to fish. I've been more and more interested in carp'ing though lately, and this catch just may have peaked my interested. I've seen some monsters close to home I just may have to target. Thanks for all the replies! I'll be reading up on "how to" I'm sure to better my chances.

Funny, as I'm wearing a cheesy Star Wars t-shirt with Darth Vader on it right now....hahaha. Anybody ever carp fish around Pearland? I'd like to just show up, hang out and learn a thing or two. I think I've read a few people fly fish for them? I have a 3 wt I'm not very good at throwing for bream.

Yeah I do I live in pearland. It's usually pretty last minute when I go, like decide the night before or whatever. Pm me your contact info and ill try to set something up for us to fish together. I happen to know of a few places where we could smash your pb close to home.
