Been reading for some time, so decided to join.

I'm another old fart and I live on a private lake (4,000 acres) just outside of Longview. Just ordered a new boat yesterday and got the HDS-9 Touch. Now I just need some young'un to teach me how to use it. They say you can just touch the screen and it'll tell you where the fish are hiding. Can't wait for that thing.

Welcome!!! You'll enjoy the HDS unit. However, it will also show you the fish you are not catching:). Good Lowrance info on TFF "General Equipment Discussion", "Lowrance".

I'm not sure you were asking for this, but if you were...

I'd find me one of the guides on Fork that has the new touch screen graph and have him go with you in your boat. This will fast forward the learning curve tremendously.

Glad you joined. Put your jersey on and enjoy the ride! bolt

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

You probably won't see me in a jersey. I generally fish in overalls with a Prodrive cap. Good idea on the guide - I'll wait until after the spring rush and they should be easier to fit me in, especially since I want to learn how to find/fish structure.

Welcome and I would be more than happy to show you how much I don't know on the electronics side if I can come fish that private lake you speak of!! I have great finders on mine that seem to only serve as a depth finder for me!! But it also shows a bunch of moving lines and colors but not sure what all that means or if its just something pretty to look at while your looking at depth!! Lol
