Im new to Texas and to TFF But Im a lifelong fisherman. I dont want to make any enemies out here, but I have to share. For striped bass, I've been 200 yards out on a sand bar at 2am, rough surf, pitching live eels to big stripers. we put bungy cords around our waders to keep the water out in case we fell in, wore "korkers" steel spikes on our wading boots so we didnt fall, and yet we fell all the time on rocks. Fished bass for years with my dad in an aluminum bass boat, ice forming on our rod tips. I fished in noreaster storms, pouring rain, sore and tired with only a few hrs sleep all in the quest of trophy fish. I love the water, the surrounding, the solitude, the challenge. I never cared what anyone wore, type of boat, type of glasses, type of gear, etc. Seems Texas bass fishing is really wrapped up in the "hollywood" style fishing? I've always believed that Stevie Ray Vaughn could pick up a $100 guitar off the rack and he will still sound like SRV when he plays. I hope everyone around here isnt too into all this show and competition. I just love to fish. You guys do realize 90% of all this gear is just plain marketing? Guys caught trophy fish on fiberglass rods, mitchell reels and jitterbugs before most of us were born?

It's all for fun. Just like guys that ride bikes or wear bowling shirts we like to dress the part. Sunglasses are the number one male and female fashion accessory in the U.S. so people do look at them when you are wearing them. That said big white frames are GAY

Is this a fishing forum or a fashion forum? This is like the 10th post in 2 days that contained the topic of jerseys and flat billed hats. Now we are on to sunglasses.
Is this really where the forum is headed?

Can't speak for the shades (cheap black/black Strike Kings), but my lady friend told me she'd be out the door the day she catches me in a flat brim, and she's 23! I don't care if it's the thang, I ain't peacocking diddly. These threads sure are entertaining though. Can we start the Columbia pants thread next? This covers both the OP and your question: http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...Hea#Post8576514

you know i really resent this statement. it groups people based on a description of what they look like rather than who they are as a person.
as a college kid i guess i would be labeled a "young" angler. i also wear oakley white framed batwolf sunglasses too.
but far from your statement, I'm a super outgoing person and would talk your ear off if you let me. in fact i've done it to some of the pros at the flw tournaments we fish. i'm sorry you had a bad experience with somebody, but given the statement you just made, you're giving a bad connotation for anybody that fits your description. including me.
a guy's gonna act like his daddy raised him to. and that's regardless of if he's wearing white sunglasses or even wearing a hat at all.
by the way, the reason my sunglasses are white are because my last set were black... sorry i like a little diversity in my life

Take no offense college boy it's all good. By the way if you are going to take the time to use periods on your sentences you might consider Capital letters at the beginning.
