What are some new lures you guys have been trying and seeing some success with? Techniques? And on what lake or pond?
Few men ever reach, in any one direction, the limits of their possibilities. As in commerce, so here, the relation of supply to demand rules. Our mechanical and intellectual forces increase or decrease according to the demands made upon them. He who uses most will have most to use.

Starting to see deep diving square bills from Bomber and Bandit. Not supposed to hang up as much. I havent tried them yet but plan to pick up a few.

DD's will hang up if you're fishing where the fish are. You hang up less with practice, but part of fishing DD's effectively is fishing where they will get hung up. Just the price to pay the game. Gonna try more buzzbaits this year.

A 'new to me' technique that I have tried recently is a swim jig. Caught a few real nice 4lbers on Fork the other day. It was overcast and I threw a talon Pete Ponds finesse swim jig near stumps and they hammered it!
The other that I'm revisiting (I've been fishing for 40 years so not much new) is the weighless fluke. My partner last saturday crushed me with it so I suddenly remembered how awesome that technique works on flats.
Good luck.

Good luck. There's a great thread on flukes in the bass section. Some good stuff.

@bassdreamer.. Been thinkin bout using a swimjig myself. Do you use a swimbait or a creature (okechobee craw, flappin hog) trailer? Ive always used a flappin hog trailer. works well anywhere. The weightless fluke has been my go to, that and a weightless senko.

I found the H20 line of lures at academy. They have nice finishes and are cheap. Was looking for the smallest lures I could that would get below 10 ft and those have proven to be good. I troll them behind the kayak every where i go then cast when I get there. Have been doing pretty good in Marine creek, Eagle mountain and lake worth up here in fort worth area. Their spinner baits are also good. tandem willow leaf white in bright days. Been nailing a good amount of large mouth with them in the 16-19 inch range.

I try to learn something new every year. Been meaning for years to become proficient with jigs. With all the new lures the past few years I keep putting it off. This is the year though.

There's a pond nearby that has some good bass hiding in really thick, tall hydrilla that reaches almost to the surface. Bought a few Bomber Shallow A's to run over the top. Bomber Shallow A Will be trying the pegged heavy tungsten infront of a jig technique to punch through, also.

The floating frogs worked well for me last summer. I recently bought a double prop topwater plug (called a "slushdaddy" I believe) and it looks great and has good action. I know a lot of folks on the TFF like the crankbaits.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Warrior Baits are new to the area located in Plano. We make a Buzzbait that you can slow roll twice as slow as any other! We offer many different plastics as well as Jigs, and some really awesome replacement skirts.
