Looking at a 2003 BassCat cougar with 225 opti in the next day or so. Anyone have any opinions on this boat. It is dual console.

Thanks,
Dannt

You will be pleased with the Bass Cat experience overall. Cougar is a popular model. Its a quick boat and handles waves better than most.

I have a 2005 Cougar with a 225 OptiMax Pro XS. It's a great boat. I had a 1993 Pantera II with a 200 Merc EFI. That was also a nice boat.

You might want to check out the decking. I met a guy on Fork one time and I thought he had a 2003 Cougar and was complaining about getting water in the compartments. I think his boat did not have water channels around the deck boxes and when it rained hard the water would leak into the box. That the only negative thing I have heard and I might have the year wrong but it was a Cougar because that was around the time I was looking to replace my Pantera II and the Cougar FTD was at the top of my list.

My boat has water channels and I have never had a problem with the compartments leaking.

Great boats and the folks at Rockwall Marine are very focused on taking good care of their customers. If you are inclined to do a pre-purchase inspection and are within driving distance it would be a good thing to consider.

My dad has an 08 puma and its a beast! 250 yammie on the back. 70 mph with a grin on your face and handles rough water with ease. And everytime you look at it you notice something, they thought of everything I need and put it on the boat! Words cannot do justice to the high quality machines the folks at BassCat are putting out. My first bass boat will be a Bass Cat. Period.

Great boat. Fast, stable in rough water. You can't go wrong with a cat.

I have a 2004 dual console Cougar with a 225 Opti. on it. It is a very solid boat. It seems to ride on top of the waves in rough water and seems to land softly as you come off a wave. It has a ton of storage up front but none on the rear deck. The live well is large also. Mine came with a 25P Trophy and I changed to a 25P Fury and that made a HUGE difference. It has been a great boat for me over the years and still serves me well.

Mine is all white with a silver outline on the lightning bolt.

I have been in almost every boat brand new and old and in my opinion nothing rides better than a cat. They handle rough water amazing with a soft and dry ride. And they are fast!! You will love it!
