I remember when you could catch fifty on flukes in the drilla, and thats gone, but you can still catch some sacks out there if you can dial em in. Been some very good bags turned in this year for sure.

I'm sorry it wasn't Golden Alge, It was Large Mouth Bass Virus -????? around 1999 or 2000, Jim Walling quit guiding for bass there shortly there after.
I never said the Lake sucks! It just use to be so much better. I don't tournament fish, so a five fish day for me sucks! Did ya'll notice how out of 200 boats only 111 teams weighed in fish. Even Mr. Wilcox's boat weighed in only 2 fish.
You talk to Lindy, Walling or Wilcox and I don't know how many others who were full time and part time guides there and they have all quit guiding up there. Danny Golden is the best guide up there now and he doesn't guide there full time as he fills in trips to Squaw Creek and Falcon to keep it going.
I admit it CTA and Rudy I was spoiled, If I don't catch 15 fish in a day something is wrong.

That hydrilla out in front of Wolf Island back in 1999, it was epic. Having said that three of my top ten have come off Ray Bob in the last couple of years. I have more trouble with Fork actually. Only one of my top ten ever.

I was spoiled to back in the day too David. I would go out with Jim Walling about six to 10 times a year for several years in a row.
Ray Bob is still a structure/off shore fisherman dream lake IMO.
Carolina Rig ring fry was the ticket back than.
I heard the hydrilla is coming back, any truth to this?

I'm with ya David, no one said it sucks or you still cant catch a 10+ now an then, its JUST NOT what it was! There used to be grass, hydrilla and lily pads all over the lake. The fishing was literally easy, even for an average stick like me who only fishes shallow water. I was also spoiled and would catch 10+ fish every trip and always at least one over 5lbs. Not so any more.

There is a little hydrilla coming back in areas. It isn't nearly as prolific as the milfoil though.
