Been on the lake since Friday and between the wind, crowds and general BS I think that being a guide would not be all roses. Not only have you got to find fish in any weather but you gotta find fish your clients can catch for their skill level. Can't be easy and I see the same 8-10 guides always booked and on the water so obviously they do it right.

My hat is off to them also...but i dont feel sorry for them. If I was good enough to be a top notch guide on Fork....man oh man!

I ain't feeling sorry for them at all just saying its hard enough to find fish for yourself but even harder for clients when its like this. Just an observation.

Yeah I try to take the wife fishing and I catch fish and she don't...one of the many reasons why I would not be a great guide.

Yeah, you have to wonder how fun it is to always have to find fish so your clients have a good experience. Every day on the water must also take away from the fun of it too.

finding the fish is one thing getting them to bite and have your clients catch them is whole new ballgame....

my hats are off to them for the knowledge they know and being able to pass that knowledge on....

They definitely earn their money, whether they put clients on fish or not. I wouldn't do it for $800/day, but that's just me. I have a passion for the sport now. As a guide, that would change.

Fork guides rock!!!
Also guides in general on other lakes!
I can catch em by myself in a perfect day without having to help other people catch fish, but that is nothing compared to what these guys do.
Also they post reports in here that are for the most part very helpful!!
Thanks to all of em!

Guides in general are good people-
LAKE FORK GUIDES ARE TERRIFIC_ THE BEST_
DECENT HARD WORKING GIVE THEIR ALL TYPES-
I HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO KNOW MOST-
HERE'S TO THE BEST GUDES IN THE USA_ LAKE FORK
PS
They are always under pressure to put you on fish, then to delicately encourage you to use the proper techniques so you can land the fish AND..while many times the fish are down there-just looking at you
THEY CAN NOT MAKE THE FISH BITE!!!!

Henry David Thoreau said that "Some men fish all their lives without knowing it is really not the fish they are after."
I think that I am approaching this stage, that is to have
the opportunity and joy to go fishing and enjoy God's magnificent creation.

Guide to client. "Great to see you and I am here to help you have a fantastic good time today!"
Client to guide. "Been looking forward to this trip. I have never fished before but all I am expecting is to get one 10 lb + fish so I can get a picture with it to show all of my friends. Lets go!"

I think guides today are much more People oriented and try to create a pleasent experience. Maybe because of social media. I remember some guides on Fork in the 80's that were really into the "watch me fish" syndrome.
