So, after throwing out several boat ideas here with you, I've finally decided what I'm going to get. Or well, my fiancee decided what she is going to get for us We wanted something small enough to car top, and light enough for both of us to handle. We're not small people, and a jon boat would have to be at least 14 foot to support us and gear, so that was out of the question. We also wanted something to paddle, and jon boats are best with motors. So then we got to looking at the 2 man bass boats, those met most of our needs. Great weigh capacity, could probably be paddled easier, small enough to car top. But she has 2 kids that live with us, and I have 2 kids that visit throughout the year, and that just wouldn't work. We live in OKC, and found a new thing they're doing. On the OKC river, you can rent kayaks for the day, among several other things, including a zip line, bicycles, and climbing tower. Pretty cool. Season pass also includes rentals at lake overholser. Well, she wasn't too sure about kayaks, didn't like that idea. So on the way back home from there, we stopped at bass pro. Found something we'd seen before, but never really considered. Pedal boats. The more we thought about it, the more the idea seemed to grow on us. We don't want anything expensive, it has room for us and the kids, light enough to car top, can launch it anywhere to fish from. Basically, with the water levels here in OK being as sad as they are, we just want to get off the shore a little bit. So after some more research, I found that Tractor Supply (of all places) actually has the best deal. Bigger boat than Bass Pro and Academy, actually has cup holders that theirs didn't, and has more leg room for the kids. Looks like we'll be out in the water this weekend, weather permitting

Good way to stay in shape while fishing, cause the only work out I get while fishing is the hook set and my feet on the gas pedal and trolling motor..There is another brand but I cant think of it, it was designed for bay fishing.

This one definitely isn't designed for fishing, but I'm hoping to add to it. The only thing my fiancee has laid down the law on, is no holes. Can't screw in anything or drill holes for rod holders. So that has limited me quite a bit, but I'm sure I can rig up something to help with carrying some fishing gear. I'll try to upload some pics once we purchase the boat and after I "outfit" it

I use to have one of those. For a small boat it was very stable. Me, wife and 2kids use to get in that thing pedal out and jump off. It is stable enough to climb in and out of.

Friend of our up in Texoma has one he lets his boys play around on. IMO they are good for tooling around in nice weather but if any wind kicks up you going with it. The faster you paddle the more sloshing it does. Just something to keep in mind. We actually had to jump into his paddle boat because of just that reason help them get back to the dock. Kayaks on the other hand, ya might want to rent them a few times. and lift a paddle boat then lift a kayak. Also at 65 wide and 96 long thats pretty big for roof top. Gotta run through the logistics of moving that thing. Kayaks are easy to move can hold alot of weight and are very stable. There are a few 2 seaters out there also. I can pull in my driveway load all my stuff and be out of the drive way in 20 minutes with my kayak. Just some food for thought.

Personally I would prefer a kayak or canoe. My fiancee, who's funding our summertime fun, doesn't. It might be a bit large, I agree there. I think with our SUV though, it should fit ok on top. Got a full size Ford Exploder. Wouldn't fit on my Camry, but shouldn't be a problem with her truck Since we're looking to fish, and on a budget, yak's just don't fit the bill for us. Got 2 kids most of the year, 4 kids some times, and this seems to be the best solution. Going to go try it out at the store tonight though. If it's too small inside for us to fit at least somewhat comfortably, back to the drawing board.
