I understand that the water is low but its all new to me and I need some bites to put that dog in his place.

Depends on where you want to fish and where your staying. If your going to fish by the dam area like Whata or stay in Three Rivers then launch at South Shore. The best place to launch is Callighan park, more docks to tie up to. There is also Mason point and 99 ramp, those are both river channels. Being the first time I'd avoid those 2. Bewarned though, if your scared of stick & stumps you best stay down by the dam area.

The lake was 22' low back in 2001. Heck for years I didn't even know there was a creek under the 99 bridge back in Opossum. It was actually the best fishing I ever had there, but there used to be grass back then too.

I'm coming up from Corpus Christi so probably will launch at Callighan but I love fishing sticks and stumps so I will be seeking that type of cover. I will just cruise cautiously up lake till i start seeing some stumps to throw at.

You will have no shortage of sticks to throw at! If you have a Navionics map card you can manage your way into Opossum creek. Used to be real good but who knows anymore???

Good Deal!!! Glad someone has had some luck. Choke sure is crazy looking right now. I can see by the bloody tail that she was probably on a bed. We nailed the whites the other day even though that was not our target fish they are still fun to catch and eat pretty good to.

If this lake could just catch 2 feet of water and flood some grass it would be fantastic.

Coleto Wednesday and back to choke next week!
