yesterday, out of the blue a youngster (early 20's) comes knockin on my door, dogs go ballistic, asks me if I want to sell my 92 SC Thunderchicken- well everything is for sale if the price is right- said he would give me $1,000 for it. I politely told him that a 20 year old vehicle is a classic and since it is in pristine condition he would need about 18,000 to make my day. He became a bit belligerent with me until I advised that the dogs are fast and bite and that the .40 S&W in my hand is very accurate.
He left in a hurry....
and this has been happening in our area quite a bit lately, me thinks its juvies lookin to score

I was stuck in traffic on 635 and some guy asked to buy my boat. I had hit a stump on Lake Fork and was taking it home to repair. Its a 1984 model.

Every time I take my boat anywhere it seems I get asked. It's nothing special. 1980 Ranger 235V. I tell them everything is for sale and asure them that it's worth A LOT more to me than they'd be willing to pay.

I've told you before, Zack. WASH the dang thing once in a while! I DO wash it, but the fish blood gets on there faster than I can wash it off! It's not my fault, really!!

The closest I came was in east Texas, a guy walked up to my boat in a parking lot and told me what a nice rig I had (It's a 10 year old Tracker). I felt a sense of pride until he asked me if I had any drugs I could sell him. That's when I realized that my rig might not be so nice, and I apparently look like a drug dealer.

I had a Triton bass boat that was almost showroom clean that was in great shape, I am just not a bass boat person at all, I advertised it and 10 hrs later it was gone, I could not believe it, a FtWorth man really got a good boat, I had been asked many times if it was forsale while fueling. I replaced it with a center console and never looked back, every time we fish from the CC I like it more. After buying the Triton, selling it and getting the CC, it was all meant to be, some things work out for the best.. Love my CC boat.

I'd be carefull though they may just be using the "is the boat forsale" line just to check out your home or even the boat to see how hard it would be to steal. Can't be too careful these days I know a guy who had someone stop at his house and ask about an old car on his driveway. He told the man it was not for sale but would consider selling for the right price. The man asked what time he would get home from work the next couple days because he might come by with cash. Two days later, when the owner got home from work, the car was gone....stolen!

The correct answer to the question is "ALWAYS YES, IT IS FOR SALE" and then give him a price that is at least $3000 to $5000 more than you would have taken. If he bites, buy a newer better boat.. if not, he shouldn't be coming back.
