Ok, I just purchased my first boat. a 16.5ft bass tracker 3. The lettering on the side is old that displays the registration numbers. I'm already in the process of polishing the entire aluminum hull, so the original numbers are coming off, as well as the old registration sticker. New sticker is sitting in my desk until the polish job is done. Anyways, I was reading on the TPWD website that the letters have to be 3" tall and Blockletters. I'm assuming this to be the same ugly mailbox letters as were on here. However, at academy, I found some that look a bit better imo. Call me young but I wouldn't mind a bit of style on the boat. Would these qualify as legal to use?

Also, can anyone advise me on where I can get the original stickers that run along the sides and on the center console? These are also quite faded and peeling and I'd like to remove rather than polish around them. Thanks.

Those letters should be fine. I would just leave the tracker stickers off myself.

The letter don't have to be block, they just can't be script or too hard to read.

I go to a sign shop and have them print me my registration in 3.3" Times New Roman BOLD in white vinyl to match the lettering of my logo that's on the side of my boat. I have been doing this since 1990 and have never had an issues.

I had Fast Signs do mine. They are not Block. I've never had a problem with GW regarding my numbers. What is nice about Fast Signs, they come on one sheet, so you just put up one big decal, squeegee them, and peel off the backing. Makes lining them up a lot easier.
