So I was fishing yesterday, using a shimano Chronarch e6 with 20 # mono suffix siege camo, and I had a 1/8 oz jighead with a gulp curly tail on it and every time I'd cast I would get backlashed. Any ideas on how to fix this and also how can I maximize the cast distance. I am new to baitcasters so bare with me. Thanks

Maybe try adjusting the brakes on it

try using weighted casting floats. tie float to main line and then leader to bottom of float(make leader for the depth you want to fish) These floats allow you to cast a very light weight jig farther

To fish with spinning reels ,because you can catch the same fish and never have black lash fishing with any bait (live, dead or artificial)

I use spinning tackle for most of my inshore jig head/soft plastic duties. Especially a light weight like 1/8th oz. But if you're gonna use baitcasting tackle, I would suggest having all the brakes out and really thumbing the spool before it hits water.

Also, 20lb test, baitcast tackle and light lures make for A LOT of backlashes!

1/8th on 20lb seems a little off you'll have to tighten the spool and let out the brakes but you'll lose distance. The biggest line have ever used is 17 and that on a abu 5000. 12lb works best and you get better distance. All my baitcasters are spooled with berkley transoptic. I have pulled in red sheepheads and drum no problem never had the line break. Its also easy to locate. Try 17lb it should work a little better.

8 to 12lb test line and some thumb control. And lots of practice.

1/8th on 20lb is pushing it. For baits that light you have to go lighter line. On and the 50E is made for throwing lighter baits.
