Save yourself a headache and buy a Mercury. The Mercury is faster too.

But both or Great motors, I just think the Sho is the Best bang for your buck right now. Just my 2 cents
The SHO isn't faster than the Mercury on the same boat... I have seen that with my own eyes. The Merc will pull away.

It is on a Phoenix 721 I have been drove past,, So I know it is. I have drove both boat and GPS is 69.8 on ProXS and 78.1 on Sho.. Both setup with 10 FT Blades full tanks of gas and Tournament loads.. So I don't know what else to tell you unless something was wrong with the Pro XS,, It use to do 71.2 till he added both 10 ft blades but that is as fast as it ever ran.

That's funny.

Yamaha SHO! 4.2L of raw big block power. Once you feel the power and notice how quite it is you will be won over. No oil required either which is a bonus.

Not buying that. Sounds like the Pro XS isn't propped correctly.

I recently demo'd a Z521 with 3 different engines...250 Pro Verado, 250 SHO and 250 Pro XS. On the Z521, all 3 performed well but differently. Best hole shot? Verado...not even close. Best mid range punch? SHO...but not by much over the Pro XS. Best top end? Pro XS but not by much over the SHO. The top end only varied from a low of 68.5 with the Verado to the high of 71ish on the Pro XS. The SHO was 70.5.

CSK ,, That's what I think to Prop issue,, But that's how it came from his dealer they sure could have Put a wrong Prop on it, I wouldn't put it past them one bit,,He isn't worried about it now since he just ordered a 920.
Like I said both or Great motors, I just like the Gas Milage on the SHO compared to the Pro..

Havent been around any of the Verado yet, Seen one of the Elite guys running one at Orange but didn't get to talk with him. Hope to start seeing more of them around so I can check one out. Thanks

I know someone said Mercs hand down but I am raising my hand. I have had 6 Yamaha HPDIs and none ever had any issues besides normal maintenance. I have had 4 Mercs. All had something go wrong and spent time in shop.

Granted I would buy a boat with a Merc again but Yamaha is my first choice based on my own experience. I am running an Etec HO now that is a beast. It might be the best running engine I have owned. Starts easier than any I have seen. Its been a great engine.

0311 I have no idea on that,, All I stated was what both will do, The buddy with the Pro XS was fixing to start playing with Props till he decided to trade it in on the New 920, And he is going back with the Pro XS on that one as well..

Like I said guys there is Not a Thing in the world wrong with the Pro , Its just some guys like Fords and some like Chevy..
