I tied this pattern up last summer, but didn't have a chance to use it. What do you all think? I copied this pattern from some place but I can't remember where. I like to give credit to sources, but I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it. Maybe someone on here knows. Other color combo suggestions welcome. rr

Ditto on the bass. I'd probably try a few in yellow, black or red and white, and chartreuse and white. I'm assuming those are lead eyes under there.

Interesting pattern. Does the weight of the hook beyond the bend give it enough weight to keep it riding correctly? It looks like it might have a tendency to lay on its side with the foam like it is.

Kirk, no lead eyes, those are just epoxy 3D eyes, though that is an excellent idea.
I'll have to give the yellow a try. I'd try chart/white, but I can't buy a fish on that color around here for some reason. Others have luck with it, but not me. Red/white is a good idea as well.
Txr- I see your point on the laying on it's side possibly. I haven't fished it yet. Might require the old bathtub test before I go too crazy spinning these things up. Maybe if I put some lead wraps around the bend of the hook?

You could also try trimming the bottom piece of foam shorter than the top. It will probably ride fine as is, I'm always looking for a way for something to blow up.

Txr- I'm the same way. I suspect your right though. I do figure that on the strip it will probably right itself, but resting, it may lay sideways. I will try trimming the bottom foam as well. I do really like the looks of it though and the lead eye suggestion for subsurface could be a winner too.

With some big bead chain, you might could get it to either suspend or slow sink. The more I look at it, the more I really like this fly. I agree with Dusty about trimming the bottom "flap" shorter. It should help the balance.

Yup, I think trimming the bottom is a good idea. When the water thaws out I'll toss it first thing and let you know how it does. It should be a great fly if it rides right. It's gonna be in the 60's around here the next few days, come on spring! Can't wait, can't wait....

OK, I had to try this last night. I like the way it turned out. Forgot the weed guard, tho. (Next time...) Yellow. Looks like I need to work on my scissor skills, too. When I get back to the house, I will give it a toss and see how it floats. Kirk

excellent! I can't wait to see how it works out. Looks like I have a couple weeks to tie a bunch up if they float right. Still frozen here.
