Well, this weekend looks like it's going to be another windy one. My cousins and I have Saturday night booked at the State Park. Don't get to fish with them too often, so it should be a good weekend. I was going to try and find a spot sheltered from the wind that night and catch some cats. Does a sheltered spot exist on this lake?!

If your at the state park, best bet is to head under 751 bridge & fish timber on calm side

Haha. Big Sam, that was the answer I was afraid of.

anyfishwilldo - Thanks! I had been looking in that area on the map. Will probably have to try that. I guess I could even put in at that ramp if it got too bad.

You should do well on the other side of 751. Stop under bridge and catch bait. Good luck

My Step Father just got back from Tawakoni and said the stripers and hybrids are really hot at the dam. Their starting to spawn there. He said he caught 20 real nice hybrids and stripers yesterday. He never keeps any. Just love to catch them.

what ive done before is pitched a small dome tent for the day right on shoreline. then set up my fold up chair and cooler inside. i use bells on all the poles in case i cant see em from the tent.

I would only suggest doing this if you're committed to the spot you've chosen.

Did you make it up 751? I was invited to join a meat hunt & we were up 751 Sat morning & caught 103 cats between 2 boats (5 people total). There was no "calm" side but the eaters were there pretty good. We started in 5 foot & ended in 1.6foot & caught fish in each spot.
Also caught this 7lb13oz hybrid in the 1st spot (5 foot) on cut shad.

...Don

I didn't end up making it to 751. Because of the direction the wind was blowing, like you said, there wasn't a spot out of the wind. Instead we parked it in Wolf late Saturday night. The wind finally gave us a break and we did pretty well. We also caught a decent hybrid (not nearly that big) on cut bait. Really weird...I definitely wasn't expecting that!
