I noticed someone had a Royal boat for sale in the Boats for sale Forum. Anyone ever used one? I'd like to hear a real-life review of one. I have been interested in a stick-steer boat and this looks like a good one.

Suspect no one on here ever heard of a Royal. Most of these young guys probably never saw a stick steer either. I used to fish with a buddy that had a Ouchita stick steer and it was a great boat and now that I think about it might be a great boat for crappie in creeks/shallow water.

I love a stick steer boat. I wish they still made them that way.

Had a 14' Kingfisher with stick steering great little boat and no steering console in the way made for more room. Not the best in rough weather but one heck of a Crappie boat.

my opinion is for the best stick steer hull is the falcon super tiger, with the sharp vee front to mod vee rear, the ride could not be beat for a forward control boat compared to that royal that felt like it was slapping the water at the front and counting teeth after the ride, the forward seat is the worst ride in the boat, but your guest wont complain in the back because what you can take up front wont be half as bad as the rear, we had stick steer from 1975 to 2005, ps i hate the steering wheel, no response like the stick but it is safer with larger engines, i would not run over a 75 hp engine with a stick and less with a short stick

Chinquapin has a stick steer on his boat, he even lets me pilot it every now and then. The response takes some getting used to. I've almost flipped him out of the boat a couple of times making sharp unexpected turns. Maybe that's why he drives most of the time!

When I was a boy that is what we had. It was a Sidewinder and you could turn it too fast for sure. Had a Evinrude 55 Triumph on it. It would jar your teeth out in whitecaps and the guy in the back of the boat would get soaked.

Mine's actually more primitive than a stick steer - just a tiller control. A stick really takes getting used to. Wouldn't mind having one as I'm developing tiller elbow.
