About 3 feet. Depends on how you are planning on fishing though. Give us some more info. Popping cork? Carolina rigged live bait? Artificials?

3 feet is typical if you tie your lure directly to the fluorocarbon, it allows you to do multiple reties before putting a new leader.
18"-24" if you use a swivel on the end of the leader.

Is it better to tie a line to line or use a swivel going from braid to flouro? What size flouro is ideal for wade fishing for reds n specks?

My fluorocarbon leader is made using 2 piece of fluorocarbon, one tie to the braid, and between this 2 piece of fluorocarbon i use one swivel.Total length of my leader is about 4-5 feet. For catching specks and red fish i use 12-14 lb. fluorocarbon leader. Good luck!!!

I usually use 20 lb fluoro. I tie it onto my braid with a uni to uni connection

I usually use 20 lb fluoro. I tie it onto my braid with a uni to uni connection X2 no swivels or snaps. Stealth catches more fish.
Razzorduck Better tighten that drag boy, He's gonna spool ya!

I usually tie direct flouro to braid with a surgeon's knot. I may use 2-3' or 6-7' depending on water clarity.
I will sometimes use a swivel if I feel like I'm getting line twist from a particular bait I'm using.

Braid to 24" of fluoro south Alberto's knot. I use 10lb braid, 20lb fluoro for artificials.

I start with about 5' and that gives me a couple feet to retie. Never less than 2-3'.
