Cameron, that was the evening Doug got locked in Moshers restroom (the restaurant next door to your tackle shop). Remember how that lock never worked right. Doug was calling everyone he knew at the tables where we were having the seminar trying to reach someone. I had my cell off. The funniest thing was when I got back to SURE-LIFE, he even dialed my house phone and left a message. When I heard that recording for "help", I started laughing so hard, that I started crying. It went something like, "Tony, this is Doug. I am in the bathroom in the restaurant, and I don't know, but there is something wrong with this lock. I am trying to get a hold of you, but maybe there is no reception in here. Oh well, I sure ya'll start wondering about me shortly. I do not know what's wrong with this lock". It was too funny.

That's sad to here. I've actually been thinking just lately about some of the things I read in his book and learned on his videos.
Thanks, Doug, for your passionate pursuit of the sport we love and your willingness to share your experiences.
May God bless your family and friends in their grief and loss.

The BASS Professor? No way! That latrine shall now become HALLOWED ground. Might as well break ground on a new one, Cam.

Kinda cool to have folks like Tony and J.P. who knew the man personally. There have got to be more stories involving you two and Mr. Hannon. Let's hear them in a celebration of his life! Anyone else who knew the Bass Professor, too! I never met Mr. Hannon but, somehow, I feel he's a lot like me.
What I mean is I'll bet The Bass Professor would want his passing to be a celebration, rather than a "memorial"

Although I only visited with Doug around a dozen times throughout the years, I knew that he was genuine. He always shook my hand, and was glad to see me. Doug pulled me aside, more than once, and told me to keep the faith regarding our conservation work on Lake Conroe. He offered support in more ways than one regarding native plants, size and bag limits, and establishing working relationships with our TPWD. Doug was a visionary with fisheries management opportunities. Tony...we feel for you Brother. I see a lot of Doug's vision in you, and that is something that no one can ever take away. Here's a pic from the Hartwell Classic in '08 when I stopped by your Sure Life booth, only to have Doug greet me when I got there.

Sounds like the kind of man we all wish we could find in a friend. Prayers for his family and all those that knew him.

Cameron, yes, it's true. There should be a sign in that restarants' bathroom. It was so funny, because on the recording, I could tell that Doug had his cell phone on his shoulder holding his phone leaving me a message as he tried to figure out the mechanics of that door handle's malfuction. It must have been a 3 minute phone message. I learned more about door handles in that message than most lock smiths know. It was classic Doug Hannon. I laughed so hard at that message when I got home. My buddy, "The Bass Professor".:)))))

doug shared a lot of his knowledge. not many bassers do that. i am sure that each one of us learned something of value from doug over the years.
