i want a good baitcast and spinning (not spincast like i originaly wrote ) reel and poles for each. i plan on fishing freshwater and saltwater, bass catfish crappie different saltwater species(i dont really know many)i have a cheap baitcast and a cheap spincast reel and want something better. i'm going to use artificial lures more than bait. i will mostly be fishing from a kayak. lets say less than $300 for a rod/reel. if you could say why you like the rod/reel you have over others that would be great. thanks for any help

Hey not sure exactly what you're looking for but I have been using the Daiwa rods and reels the past 2 years and love each and every one of them. They have several mid range combos to choose from but I really like the Zillion line the best. Toledo Tackle at Toledo Bend carries them. Ask for Gill and he'll make it worth your while.

this, I have upper end berkley and love them, got a couple of veritas too but have not had the chance to use them as much yet. (abu is owned by berkley) http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/rods-and-combos/rods/lightning-rod-shock http://www.abugarcia.com/products/rods/veritasnow that being said I would pair a veritas with a winch in 5:1 and another with a revo in 6:1, this will cover bass fishing and a 7' veritas hvy with a winch would work for salt water well too.

Look in the trading post, swap classifieds section of this forum. Lots of good used stuff. Name your price.

ABU 5500 reel. Holds plenty of line and has a 22lb drag.

Daiwa, Shimano, Garcia, Quantum, etc. All of them make good stuff, and most make cheap stuff too.
I prefer Shimano spinning reels, just personal preference I'm sure, but I got started on them years and years ago and prefer them.
I like Shimano's low profile bait casters, and Abu Garcia for round bait casters.
I've got all kinds of rods, my preference there is for a lightweight rod that has a good "feel", which is entirely subjective.
I'd go to Academy, Bass Pro or Cabelas and play with a few rod-n-reel setups and I'll bet something will call your name.
