I think I'm having a little corrosion issue on a reel. What can I do to stop it from getting worse? what can I use?

A picture and a couple of sentences might help us out. What kind of reel is it? Where is the corrosion? How do you clean and maintain your reel? How do you store your reel?

 This is corrosion!Do you fish in high lime areas or areas where they fertilize regularly? Just keep it rinsed and a little wipe down with oil every time and it will deter that problem

I've heard tale that vasolien will kill it in its tracks.Try not to get it on anything other than the infected part.

so just keep on doing what im doing now.. Fish, rinse, clean and oil.. Nothing happen on my other one just this one.. Its fresh and salt.. marsh a lot of time..i clean with tooth brush and butter

If you're really worried about corrosion, I'd say spray a little corrosion-x for peace of mind.

The red bottle is standard and the blue is their "marine" - it leaves a slightly thicker coating.
