Hello everyone,
My girlfriend and I will be going to South Padre for my graduation. I don't have a boat, but what are some suggestions as to places we could fish without one or some cheaper party type boats we could go on. Thanks!

There are jetties a the south end, just a couple of blocks from where the bridge lands you on the island from Port Isabele. It is a public park and costs about $5 per car for a day. There is a place where you can pull of the road that runs north through the city that will get you onto the bay side where I have seen folks wading. At the south end, near the entrance to the park (where the jetties can be accessed), there is a strip of businesses that includes a party boat that costs about $20. Most likely you will only catch cats and whiting. If you are willing to spend $350 or so, you can go bay fishing for reds, trout, flounder'etc. There are a lot of these trips available. Do a search for SPI guides if that is of onterest.

The first half of the jetty can get pretty packed. If you go further out, you will find plenty of space. Stack up with bait in port isabel at the quick stop bait shop. When you cast from the jetty, make sure you cast out far. The rocks extend for some distance under water and you can end up loosing tackle. Right now you are best off with mullet and shrimp. The drum and stingray are in the surf and biting.
