I fished there Saturday 3/16 and Saturday 3/30. The lake has been hammered with fisherman 7 days a week. I normally go there in April and wear them out, the fish we have been catching are still full of eggs. The lake was 3 feet low the first time I went and 2 feet low this last weekend. Water is still clear. Fish that we have been catching are in 7 to 8 feet in middle of day in the grass.

Went last friday (3/29) and caught a handful on crankbaits in the 4 to 8' range. Saw several beds and fish cruising the shallows. Found water 62/63 degrees mid-day. This helped.

I went Fri and Sat. I think the majority of the spawn is over. Found quite a few abandoned beds. Water temp on Sat was 63 in the PM.

The time of year doesn't matter much. It's the water temp that counts. Even after last weeks cold fromt - water was still 59 degrees Friday morning, and with the full moon last week it's a pretty safe bet they did their thing.
Last edited by fowlplayr; 04/02/13 02:44 PM. Reason: water temps were mid-lake

3 of the fish I caught Saturday had not spawned. I caught one that was about 6.5 lbs and her tail was just barely even red. I been fishing that lake in April since 1998 and have never seen them spawned out by this time. The lake is so clear that they see you way before you see them.
