The caymans are awesome boats and I love the layout. Don't know why they stopped making them.

The Mayak would work great for both types of fishing, and they will flat out run.

I live in the dfw area and own a haynie 21 cat. It has been the best all around fishing boat I have owned i use it at lake texoma for striper, I ocassionally fish bass tourneys with it, and the it's at home on a shallow salt water flat. I have owned four boats and fished salt water with all of them I have never had a problem with corrosion as long as you flush your motor and clean everything up with fresh water, and I always make a point to run the boat in the lake when I get home.

I think the Intracoastal replaced them.

Has anyone fished out of one of these? This looks like it would be a good both types of boat.

that boat is a flats boat like the Ranger I have....good dual purpose boat

the Ranger Intracoastal didn't replace the Cayman....they sold more of the Bay Rangers so they ditched the Cayman and focused on lighter weight flats boats like the Ghost

I fish out of 20' Hewes Light Tackle. Awesome boat, but they do not make them anymore. You can find some used from time to time if you are diligent. Maverick makes an 18' and 21' master angler series which are similar and great boats. My boat will run mid-50s depending on load, wheel pivots to drive sitting down or standing up, do it in rough water, less than a foot, or 15 miles offshore.

Also, lake & bay, triton LTS series, champion made a good bay boat, skeeter zx20 & 22, ranger bay & cayman series, Kenner, Bluewave and Pathfinders are awesome too.

Don't know about some guy complaining about storage, but this thing has room for all my tackle (26 rods) and 3 40"+ kingfish and a 5' shark.

I have bass tournament fished this boat, and can tell you in windy conditions, the boats do NOT track as well under trolling motor power, and one of the best thing you can invest in is a drift sock or two.

Oh, and you can also catch big fish out of them too.

Great all around fishing machines, don't see myself going back to a bass boat any time soon. Oh, and when they get dirty just hose them out, no carpet to worry about.

Tis true, Texag87, too bad you don't have your cayman down here too, then i would know for sure that there are at least two true flats boats in the CS area.

Can't tell you how many times i have to explain to people that my Hewes is not a bay boat, but a flats boat..
