OK, guys I have a question for you. I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado and just like every other 2005 chevy it's having guage problems. I have replaced all of the cluster motors just like some of you have, however I'm still having issues with my speedometer. Basically it still does not work. What else should I look at here? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It would take a scanner to properly diagnose that one. Sometimes after replacing that stuff you need to do a gauge sweep to "recalibrate" the gauge so to speak. Do you have an abs light on? That would indicate a vehicle speed sensor problem.

Sounds like the Cluster needs to be replaced. There are known problems with 2003-2005 Chevys . Just replaced my cluster on 03 Suburban. I wk at a Chevy dealer and see this issue. Are you close to McKinney?

No my abs light is not on. How would I preform a gauge sweep?

I have replaced all of the cluster motors on the circuit board. Could the circuit board itself be shorted out?

That what mine did. I just got back from Haltom city where it took them all of 18 minutes to redo my cluster. He replaced all stepper motors. New backlights. New power supply on digital readout. $100 cash.

Took me 5 minutes to take the cluster out.
Took about 3 minutes to put it back in.

So far its great! Lifetime warranty which means I'll probably never have an issue with it again.

It takes a capable scanner to do it. This will tell you if its a cluster problem or not.

You might check with the Chevy Dealership, my motor on the speddo quit ( well it run up to the peg and stayed). I called into the dealership in Lubbock and they replaced it under a recall if I remember right.

I did my stepper motor replacement myself. Not sure if you did it yourself or had it done, but on one of mine I damaged the motor on install so everything worked but the tach. I ordered one more to replace that and they all work great now, the leads to the stepper motors are very fragile if you messed on up you may just need to redo the speedo stepper motor.
