I've got my accessories, 3 sonars, and motor all hooked to the cranking battery. I have two trolling batteries and only use them one at a time. I only have my trolling motor hooked to those batteries. Do I have too much hooked to my cranking battery? I just got a brand new cranking battery and my Elite 5 dsi only shows 11.4 volts, but my old eagle shows 12.5? Very frustrating!

I would throw another one in there if I was you. Dont want to get out there been sitting at one spot a while and go to leave only to find out your electronics drained your battery. I have a cranking battery, 2 tm batteries and threw another one under the consoles for all other electrical needs in my boat. I am just using a group 29 interstate deep cycle under the console one i had laying around.

I usually only use two sonars at a time. I just don't get why it's showing such low voltage? My tester said the battery is putting out 13.5 volts?

I use the cranking battery for the sonar also. Haven't had any problems in the last few years.

I'm gonna bet that the battery is fine and the wiring you have goiing to the sonar is too small....i.e. voltage drop. If the battery shows 13.5 but by the time it gets to the graph it's 11.5 it's in the wiring Just my 2 cents

Just a suggestion, but have had that trouble at night with all the lights and acc running and very little engine time. Easy solution for me was just throw a set of cheap jumper cables in one of the storage bins and if the need arises use the trolling batteries to crank it.

Sorry I misunderstood the question, But to reply to XL I dont like relying on jumper cables I just dont like the idea of it. If i ran my tm batteries all day they might not have anything left either. Then your up a creek, but Im the kinda guy who has everything he needs in a boat to fix just about any problem you can encounter

Console Lights, Nav Lights, Bilge Pump, HDS-7, and Aerator, all on Cranking Battery. I have two TM Batteries for my 12 Volt 55 Lb. TM. My up front HDS-5 runs on which ever TM Battery I am using at the time. With two TM batteries I have enough TM power to fish for at least two days of hard fishing before I need a charge..

Dutch, do you have your two TM batteries connected, or do you switch back and forth?

Simple fix is to upgrade your wiring for the electonics all the way back to your cranking battery. Suggest you use a size 12 wire. Also, not sure I understood what you said. If you have two batteries for your TM wire them in series and you won't need to switch them back and forth. Maybe I misunderstood?

I thought about wiring them parallel, but don't want to put extra strain on one battery, so I wanted to just use one at a time and switch when one gets low.

Yes, parallel, not series for 12V operation. Better than switching.
