I fished Palistine today with my son and we really could'nt ask for a better day to fish. The weather was overcast and warm with a slight southern breeze. We did'nt get on the water until afternoon. We fished a few spots and caught several buck bass in the 2 pound range before we decided too head too the back off a wind blown pocket and thats when it got hot and heavy. We fished the back of a flat and found largemouth and hybids schooling big time on shad. For about 2.5 hrs it was every cast action. I really love catching big bass but the hybrids hit like a ton of bricks and pull like a Georgia mule. We caught about 15 largemouths between 2.5 and 4 pounds and at least 10 or 12 huge hybrids on crankbaits in about 6ft of water. My son had never caught a hybrid before so I got a real kick out of watching him with his rod doubled and his drag screaming. He was beside himself. BTW water temps were in the mid 60's. Heres a pic of him with a couple of hybrids he caught today. Firewater, congrats! You and your son will remember that afternoon forever. I have got into a school of hybrids only once, and it was incredible. One Ripped the treble off my jerk bait by pulling the split ring open. A slow day on Conroe turned into a great day just like that.

Looks like a great trip to me! Congrats. I caught a giant hybrid out at Palestine once! They fight like a freight train.

Nice job firewater, I hunt those things and have had no luck . Gives me hope. Were you north/mid or south? Looks south.

Very nice...Like sandbass, I target those fish on Lake Pal and have had a hard time getting a pattern on them...Once you catch one of those striped pigs, you will keep going back for more.
