Hit the Canals tonight. I usually take a jig and walk along the bank and usually catch 7-8 bass in an hour or so. The biggest being 4-5 lbs. Well tonight I decided to do something different. I went with 2 dozen minnows and all I can say is I wish I had bought more!!! No bass this time but the Crappie were on fire!!!!!! I was so fun watching the lighted bobber B-Line under water!!! The biggest Crappie was about 2lbs and 15 inches.. All others were 11-12 inches. There were a few I couldn't keep because of the size limitation. The smallest was 9 inches!!!!! I live in Duncanville and had to get minnows at the Bass Pro Shop. Well I was already on that side of town so I just stop there. need to find a bait house closer. But what a night!!! I'll be bringing minnows from now on!!!!

15 inch crappie at LC this time of yr is NOT AT ALL UNUSUAL! I been catching them there that size, and bigger, for over 30 yrs. They also bite good in the winter if you know what part of the canals to fish! Catch em to Christmas Carols on the piped in music!!!

But, until the den and the lazy boy are hazy images in the rear view mirror, you will never be able to prove it to yourself. As to what canal, IT DON'T MATTER!!! I have caught them on every single body of water out there in the spring, and a select few, in the winter!

As the old James Brown Disco song says, "S--T/G'D, GET OFF YOUR AZZ AND JAM!!!!!!

With a rod and some jigs, that is!!

I know the saying "A picture tells 1000 words" and if I knew how to post pictures I would show you the Monster Bass and Crappie I have caught. I have only been on the forum a few years and hadn't said much. So I know many of you may have a Lil doubt what I'm saying, but EVERYBODY knows and respect Rudy on here and his wisdom with finding fish.. Thanks Rudy for all your wisdom! It has helped me catch fish after fish!

I've been fishing there all month and catching nothing but LMB with jigs (small ones) for the crappie but the LMB are blowing em up...

I guess minnows is the trick.

NOW, the million dollar questions:

Are you going to eat those? Ol' Skeeter warned me about eating anything out of there and even pointed out the run off areas that go into the canals from the streets...
