Any smallmouth would be a trophy for me. I can't seem to catch one to save my life.

My take on the question can only be related to Texoma, where I do most of my smallmouth fishing. I would have to say 6 pounds would be "trophy" status on Texoma

Long ago Lake Whitney produced a lot. I had 52 over 5 in about 5 years. 7 3 largest.

pb is a lil over 6 on eufala here in OKIELAND, hula grub in oct.
get ya some yamamoto hula grubs (I like wat/red, black/blue, chart, punkinseed/black) use 3/8 or 1/2 oz stand up heads and 40-50# braid, hit the rocks and plan on losin some jig heads but you should find some of the biguns.

I caught this while crappie fishing on Texoma. Weighed 3lbs 15 oz. Only one I've ever caught and on a light crappie rig it sure was a rodeo.

I caught one over 6 1/2lbs on Bridgeport and a fair number in the 4lb range. I am sure this is not a popular view but I think smallmouth are way overated. I will take dragging a largemouth out of thick, shallow cover any day.

I caught two smallies over 5 this winter on Lake Tenkiller one 5.2 and one 5.5 both on the same day within ten minutes of each other. He in the southern States I think 5 lbs is a nice trophy smallie

I've caught a few around 4.5 on Bridgeport. I've know several guys who have caught them over 6 out there.
