Went out on Lewisville today put in at the Oak Point boat ramp and fished the cove on the other side of it didn't catch any bass but there seemed to be quite a few crappie in there. The wind was pushing me around pretty good to the point I've decided to get a drift anchor. My question is which one would you guys recommend and if you use one is shallow water 6ft and under do they get hung up on trees and rocks in the water?

Are you considering a drift chute or more like a drag chain? Another option would be a stake out pole. I hardly use my grapple anchor but don't go out with either the 8' stake put pole for creeks or my drift anchor for big water.

"do they get hung up on trees and rocks in the water?"...Ha Ha around here ( South Texas bay flats) 6 feet would be DEEP!
Some drift chutes come with a float already built in. In my case,I just added a piece of swim noodle on one strap. That way, the chute still deploys properly, but stays near the top of the water column.
I did arrange for a couple of loops, so I can tie the chute close to the yak, or let more line out and let it drag further back, depending on the wind and cover. Rich
p.s. there have been times when I was tempted to use two chutes, the wind was so bad. Oh yes, Academy had a number of reasonably priced chutes. I got mine off the internet before I knew about the academy offerings.

richg makes a good point with adding a float to the drift chute.
I would say to get a drift chute for when you're in 6+ FOW, and make yourself a stakeout pole for when it's under 6 feet. Do a search, there's been some great and inexpensive ideas posted for stakeout poles.

I'm considering a drift chute over a chain. I've been looking at making a stake out pole just haven't figured out how I want to do it yet. Thanks for the help

With the float the drift chutes don't seem to hang up. I put in there a lot and have drifted all the way to the bridge never hanging up...with or without float.
