Fouz, basically, "I knew this was Dean's spot, but it was my spot too. I felt like I had a legitimate chance to win, so I fished the spot. Kreit and I had a pact to leave after we filled a limit each day. Dean fished it out. I left after Dean, so I don't know why it took him so long to get here. Communication is key. Dean and I haven't discussed it."

I am so tired of this story!! I'll take this over the daily coverage of Jodi Arias.

I watched it and still feel exactly the same......AJ was wrong. He should have given Rojas more space.

watched this a bit earlier and am glad that the marshals have openly stoud up for alton BASS could have mentioned in the aired footage that alton had been fishing this area on day one...
plus a great point brought up was alton was boat number 7 and dean had plenty of time to get to that area first and chose not too...
lastly i still havent heard anyone bring up that alton is is #4 in AOY points. yes i understand this only the season opener but the final tally can and has been determined by a single place postion in just one event.
either way i havent read into this as much as some others... but i have to commend alton that a simple bit of proactive communiction would have been productive in this situation. in which Dean didnt sound like he was willing to participate in...lets not forget that Dean also dropped troll right infront of Alton even though he was the first one there.

"Dont hold this against Dean?"... Really Alton..?
Fishing in not a matter of life and death Its much more serious than that.

It will be interesting to see what happens next time Alton is in the same position as Dean. Could the stance he took in the interview cost him down the road? Will one of the other guys remember this situation and by Alton's own words, consider it OK to fish his water when he has a significant lead?

watched this a bit earlier and am glad that the marshals have openly stoud up for alton huh? I rode with Dean Rojas the first day of the tourney. The area he was fishing was a small stretch between two bridges mainly, kriet was past us beyond the second bridge. We stayed there ALL day. Alton might have come into bayou dinh, but he NEVER came up that far. But regardless Alton should have left that water to Dean since he had a chance to win. Its just respectful and he would want the same courtesy shown to him. I can verify this for sure. I rode with Alton jones on Thursday and we fished that spot on Thursday. He only needed three keepers at the time to fill his limit. Once he caught his three keepers to make his limit he left hoping to save those fish for the rest of the weekend. He also said he had seen Jeff Kreit practice in there. So the information about Jones moving in on Rojas is wrong to the fullest extent, Dean Rojas was not in that hole on Thursday.

I think the one of the key things he said was that he owed it to his sponsors to do everything he can to win or just put the boat on the trailer. The one thing that is bad about unwritten rules is they are un written. It is also a good thing because un written rules tend to allow the boys to enforce them in there own way which I am sure sometime down the road this one will be enforced as well and the shoe will be on the other foot. I would think however that these sponsors who I am sure throw a great deal of money at these guys on this level do expect guys to handle themselves in a positive and professional manor. Do the sponsors value winning at all cost more than professionalism? I would doubt it but what ever gives them there biggest return on there investment has to be equivulated into the senerio for sure. As far as the unwritten rule, the boys will enforce it in time, that goes for any sport really Such as baseball, Nascar and Bass Fishing.
I am blessed to have a opportunity to live a childhood dream as a professional wrestler

Gotcha. Never any doubt he Alton was in the same bayou that first afternoon. His marshal stated he went in there three short of a limit. But Dean's marshal also stated that they never saw Alton, so he did not get on the same stretch as Dean until day two, and that's when the problems started.

There are a few things that are curious to me. How did AJ beat Rojas to that spot. He obviously had to pass Rojas along the way. Did Rojas stop for coffee? He also said in the audio that he knew Rojas had fished it out. Perhaps hindsight, but if had thought Rojas had fished it out, why would you go there?

While I do think Alton is usually a pretty upright guy, I think he knew he was in a gray area this time. Granted, he did a better job politic'n his side than Rojas so I think he saved face here, but still.... Technically he did nothing wrong, but I wouldn't have done that someone I considered a friend.
