Caught a 40" red on live piggy perch off the jetties on the shipping channel. Pompano on shrimp under a bobber. The last night I was in port A I fished a little public pier on the shipping channel. Not sure the name, but when you get off the ferry coming into port a, take a right at the stripes then imediatly take another right, follow that road and there's a pier on the right when the road starts to turn left. I caught lots of nice whiting on fresh dead shrimp, a est. 3'ft sharp nose shark on live piggy perch, a bunch of large gaftop on cut whiting, a couple rays on shrimp, and 6 keeper specks on a secret bait-(The guy that showed me how to catch them made me walk to the parking lot alone to tell me how, promised him I wouldn't tell). The way my lucks been going don't need the bad karma, not that I really believe in karma but can't afford to piss it off any more, already out a truck and all my rods.

I am glad that your luck took a good turn. That is a nice stringer of fish. And a beautiful bull red.
The norther got you from short sleeves to winter gear fast.

good ole charlies pasture. Just make sure you use a good surf rod or a longer rod and get your baits or fish up to the top of the water. The pier used to extend out further and is just below the surface. Lost lots of terminal tackle off that pier. The Tankers used to haul butt down the channel and the wake will destroy the pier and they keep rebuilding but shortning it.

The hidden pier out there is what makes the fishing so good. Adds a lot of structure for the fish to hide and prowl. Someone needs to park a van there and sell tackle at triple cost. lol

I was thinking about goin diving and get a bunch of free tackle. I found that if you hold your rod high and reel fast you don't lose any tackle. I fished there all night and only lost 2 rigs, one was because something big hit my light crappie rod and snapped the line.

I've never had any issues with getting snagged unless you fish in the middle on the end of the pier, if you fish the sides going down the pier or the sides on the end and cast on a angle you will be fine

Justin- The shark I'm holding is a sharp nose shark. The shark on the ground next to the specks is a bonnet head. But that was given to me so I'm not counting it. Everyone else... Thank yall, I'm real proud of that red its the biggest I've ever caught. One of the biggest I've ever (personally) seen. I kno they get much bigger but I just havnt had the opperrunity to see one caught.
