Get a used boat thats paid for, then save $200 a month for the first year. that saved money should cover most break downs.

Don't buy this time of year...if you want 17.5-18.5 ft....get a 19-20ft used boat...175-200 hp min....shop around find something that has been taken care off and not sitting outside. Have the entire boat checked prior to buying.....try to find something you can purchase an extended warranty from the manufacturer. You might have to spend a little more money upfront, but It will save you in the long run. It is a buyers market right now...shop around and do not get into a hurry. If you get into a hurry you will over pay EVERY time. Good luck and enjoy your retirement.

#4...if you're patient and do your homework you can find an excellent used bass boat in that price range. I looked for a while and eventually found exactly what I wanted.

Personally I would choose #4 and save the money I would have spent on a boat payment for a rainy day or boat trouble. This!

I am also retired and still buy a new boat every two years because I am not ready for that last boat yet. My dealer is Sandy Creek Marina at Breckenridge. I try to take customers down there every chance I get just to look around. If you live close enough you are welcome to ride down anytime and lunch is on me. We will talk and I believe I can help you make the right decision and find you a boat that will fill your retirement needs. Please PM me or call: 432-553-1874

Buy New, no problems and if they are they are the boat or motor or trolling motor or depth/gps peps problem.
You buy a good boat at your age and it will be your last one. Doit, spend the money you cant take it with you.
And do look around before you buy.....buy close the home.

I know a guy selling a 22 foot ranger for 33500 with only 50 hours on it. It has 250 on it and drives like a Cadillac in wind. I wish I had the money to buy it. He's in Texas. Older you get the smoother you want the ride for you and the mrs.
