Hello Gents

I headed to Cypress springs lake to do some Crappie fishing, I live here in Louisiana near caddo lake. I come to Kings country several times a year, I have a friend that lives there that is teaching me to jig fish. Just wondering if there is any reports that any one can give. Thanks

Good day sir and welcome.
I am a local bait shop located on I 30 Exit 150 in Mount Vernon.
The Crappies are going to be in the shallows during the peak parts of the day if the sun is out. other wise they have been in the 5 foot range. with the cold weather we just had this last week Im sure they have moved back out a bit but with saying that
with the warm weather moving in this week I expect to see them come back to the shallows again this week,.

It will be touch and go until the weather stabilizes. I have gotten reports on many females full of eggs yet. but they are wanting to move in and get to laying but until mother nature works with them you might need to use minnows too if the jigs just are not working.

Thanks everyone, will be getting to the lake on the 3rd and fish till sunday. The last time I was there we went to Mt. Vernon and picked up a few items from East Texas Archery, nice guy working there. I will be posting a few pictures of what I have been catching on Caddo lake and the red river

Thanks

welcome to the TFF! My wife and I launched from Caddo State Park last Saturday and bass fished the river for our first time. Got skunked but had fun and enjoyed the new experience! Went through a canal that I thought would take me out into the lake on the far east side, but it was just a swamp only about a foot or 2 deep. Very cool looking though. Thought I was on Swamp People for a while!

So how did you do on Cypress Springs? I'm headed there tomorrow to mostly bass fish but may try for some crappie too. Will be hugging the south bank though with the expected wind.

The fish are shallow after the sunshines for a few days. Under docks & around what little wood we have left. I found some on brush in 10FOW, but had to leave almost as soon as I got on them & haven't been able to get back out. The cold fronts have kept me in my easy chair with my back on a heating pad. Neighbor has been catching some very large ones under a dock when it's warm & the sun has been shining for a few. I torn them up last year, but I have left it for him as he does not have a boat anymore. Some of the females eggs are ready & others are not, spawn might last awhile????
Good Luck!

Planning on going Monday, I hope its good! Has most of the successful dock fishing been up in coves?
