We pull a fifth wheel lol. But with gas on the rise that is about to stop and then the hotel industry will have a monopoly on the whole market.

We actually have a small motor home that we pull the boat with, but even most of the parks require 6 nights. Sam Rayburn Marine generously has this offer though - pay for 6 nights and get the 7th one free. That's really convenient and a heck of a deal when you only need to be there 3 nights. LOL

LOL ! I'm not familiar with that area, but find a good state park or something if ya are camping out. We never stay at a private park, ReserveAmerica has a pretty decent site for finding campgrounds and things.

It seems like a simple choice to me, either stay home save some money or just go and have a good time.

If enough people got outraged and stayed home, they wouldn't do it. They can only do it so long as the market will bear it.
$2000 seems excessive for a metal bracket, hydraulic pump and $25 controller, but those power poles are selling just fine. Supply and demand.

Stay in Lufkin especially if you are going to fish the midlake area or north end of the lake.

Stay in Lufkin especially if you are going to fish the midlake area or north end of the lake. Agreed...but why should fishermen be faced with having to stay 30-40 minutes away from the lake when there are perfectly good hotels practically lakeside. It's just a shame that as much of a boost as this tournament brings to the economy of that area, that those facilities would stick it to us like that. This would be like The Stump having a different menu for The McD's tournament where the prices are 50% higher (or more!).

$79 a night hotels in Austin go up to $400-$500 a night during SXSW and have minimum stay requirements, nature of the business.
