Looking to make a short trip this weekend to get out on the water. What's a decent spot to take the boat out within a <2hr drive. TIA

Fayette might be your best bet right now.

Lake LBJ is fishing pretty good! I do think its on the tail end of the spawn but this full moon this weekend may move up some of the big girls that are late to the party!!
Good Luck

Lake Dunlap, IH-35 in New Braunfels. May be a bit "wake boaty" but worth it to fish it once

Fayette is usually a good bet. Also Bastrop and Colletto Creek would be worth considering.

Canyon Lake has been fishing very well. I drive right past Dunlap on my way out to Canyon.

I would normally say Choke Canyon, but not this year. It's been terrible. I would go to Bastrop for numbers. Its about 1.5 hours from San Antonio. If you just want to get the boat wet, Canyon Lake will work, and it's close, but the fishing there is mediocre at best.

Just get up early and make the drive to Amistad if you want to catch some fish.
