K guys need y'all's help. I'm about to invest in fishfinder. I plan on spending 1600.00- 2000.00. I have never had one costing over 500.00 and they have always been hummingbird. Would would you guys recommend that's reliable, easy to learn, and who would you get to install it. Thanks for your help.

If you are comfortable with the Bird stick with it and get a model you like with stucture scan.
Zuma72 and ScottA here on the TFF are a great team in Dallas to do an install at your house if you live in or near the Metromess.

Your best bet is to go somewhere that sells them and go through the menus and see which brand you like best, for me it was Lowrance but I have both on my boat. I found I like the way Navionics looks on the bird but like the sonar and structure scan better on the Lowrance.
I am going to buy one just to find out for myself. Half y'all lie like hell and the other half are full of chit. www.anglersprotackle.com/store, A great locally owned business www.bcfw.org Bass Club of Fort Worth

I've had both, and this is my opinion: Easiest to learn: HB Best Side Scan: HB Best Down Scan: Lowrance Sonar: Lowrance Reliability: Lowrance Quality: Lowrance Lowrance had bad customer service in the past but they've worked hard to correct it and I've heard great things about their service over the past two years. I now have two Lowrance HDS 8s.

8-9 years ago I would have said Lowerance all the way, but in the last few years, the Birds have made big gains. I personally like Lowerance, but I don't think you will disapointed with either right now.

If you already have a Bird that is @ $500.00, I'd take a look to see if you can network them. If you can't, then you have a choice to be made. If you can, you will want the Bird. When you have them in tune with each other it is really an advantage.

I now have two Lowrance HDS 8s. Agree with this 100%. I've got a HB 597 up front and a Lowrance HDS-5 at the console, so I've got a foot in both camps.

I have both and I like Humminbird better. To me it is much easier to use. Also I've had great customer service from HB.

I found I like the way Navionics looks on the bird but like the sonar and structure scan better on the Lowrance. This is a correct statement. If you catch BPS (grapevine) during a slow day (during the week) before everyone get off. They have a couple of people who will walk you through each one of them.

I was in same boat as you and 2 weeks ago I bought the hummingbird 898 combo. Absolutely love it. Easy to use easy to read. Does everything I want and more. Just buy the map card & you'll love it even more!!!!!
