Makes me question my man hood after the eagle mountain trip this year. Im going to say it was because it was rubbing against the bone smile

That's okay ... I'll bring some extra hooks next time we're out, you bring your arm, and I'll give you a live demo of what you missed!! rolfmao

WARNING TO ALL NEW KAYAK FISHERMAN!
Watch this video!! There is a very good chance you will get hooked. We fish in a confined space and if a fish flops loose from your hands with something like a crank bait in its mouth, it's going straight down between your legs. This happend to me twice during a tourney. First time the hook went in and came out with the flopping fish on it. I was able to pinch the barb and slide it out. Second time I was on Grapevine and it went in but not out. I could remember a video of a way to remove it so I got my phone out to watch it and I had no service. Yes NO service in the middle DFW? So I removed it the hard way shown in this video. Don't do it that way!

Stomach the video so you will know what to do.

Guys, I mean no offense to anyone but that was probably the worst hook removal video I've ever seen. When done properly, the braid trick works really well but there's more to it than wrapping braid around a hook and jerking. There are some really good videos on youtube that show the proper way to do it. I commend the guy in this video for trying to help people but he should have learned how to do it before posting this. This video is dangerous and will get someone hurt. Chad Hoover has covered this before and there are other videos that show how to properly do it.

Agree. There are some better videos but I encourage everyone to learn how to remove a hook. It can save you some expensive ER bills.

I agree completely, it is an important skill to have. I don't want to pan that video without offereing a better solution but I will have to wait until after work. I've seen some really good ones that go into detail on the proper way to do it, I will post them when I get a chance.

I know that "rope starting it" method is off my to do list. That guy must have just taken some hydrocodone or something. His arm was so freaked out it could hardly even bleed.

Me either!

Here are a couple of videos that show it done the right way. Pay close attention to the line placement in relation to the skin and the direction and plane of the jerk. I think this is where the guy in the first video messed up. The hook should jerk free on the first pull.
