There is an unspoken rule in Bass Tournaments... I thought. If Rojas was there every day and was in the lead then Alton needed to back off and fish other water, however If Alton was there during the 3 days before then he would be in the right to fish that water. Either way, if it would have been me I would have approached Rojas before takeoff and discussed it with him.

Big Show, I have no problem if you disagree with me. My opinion is not popular as there are tons of AJ lovers in this state. Mostly because of his proclaimed faith.
I see it another way and have been witness to this behavior from AJ, previously. Ask around to some of the guys that used to fish against him before he made it to the big time.
He can talk the talk all he wants. His actions don't always align with his talk, however.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

Here is Alton's reply to me when I asked him his logic on going to that area on the final day....
Alton Jones ‏@JonesProFishing 24 Mar TV only gave one side of the story. Can't believe how they never asked me about it on camera and just let others slander.
Jeremy G ‏@jeremyworm123_g 25 Mar @JonesProFishing Alton, just curious what your logic was as to going to that area on the final day?
Alton Jones ‏@JonesProFishing 18h @jeremyworm123_g That's where I caught my fish all 4 days and I felt like my best chance to win or to move up was to stay with that area. 4:53 AM - 26 Mar 13 Details

Thank God Roger Staubach wasn't a tourney fisherman following the unwritten rule! I don't care about the 2 guys in this story, neither guy is one I follow, but when there is that much on the line how can you ask a guy to not fish an area because he is 7 lbs behind. Was he in stiking distance of 2nd - whatever place? Is it unreasonable to expect a guy to figure something out and maybe catch an extra 2 pounds that day over any of the other competitors. I belive in the rules, I also believe in doing the right thing, but if 2 guys are in a tourney, and reports are that both guys have been in the area, and 1 guy apparently has a faster boat or for whatever reason gets there 1st then he should be able to fish it. Different sport but onetime in a game we were getting hammered, the coach was doing his job rallying the team and I said we can't comeback from this. I was benched, we didn't comeback, but we almost did. If you can get that far behind, the other team can lose that much as well.

Even without the drama fishing the same small area on a tidal river is not the best idea for 4 days. I fish these type of waters 1-2 times a week. While some areas I feel confident that they hold fish 90% of time there are times they are dead water. Tidal change, clairity, food, salinitly, winds, sky condition so on. The tidal bass are a different beast altogether.

If I'm 7 lbs out of 1st,2nd,3rd place it really dont matter. Who in their right mind wants to place worse than what they can? If you answer yes I do. I have some ocean front property in Arizona I need to sell.

I think a lot of people are missing the point, yes, everyone wants to do the best they can but there are many tournaments across many years of a professionals career. The idea behind giving the leader room is that at some point in your career, you are also going to be in a position to win a tournament and if so, that others will give you the room in return. It has nothing to do with admitting defeat, giving up, thinking that you might have a miracle day and catch the biggest bag of the event and come back.......it's about giving a the guy that is in the best position to win an event the opportunity to do so and expecting your fellow anglers to do the same for you when you are in that position.
There is a big difference in fishing close to each other on the dam at Falcon than fishing the exact same small stretch of water on a bayou in Sulfer, La.

"My question to you two fine gentleman is this. If Alton Jones never went up there where Rojas was, then how could he have "stole" his spot? He never went up there so he didn't know where Dean was fishing. Seems to me he thought he had a shot at winning, decided to try a new spot in the area he had been in all week and it just happened that Rojas got beat to a spot he wanted to fish. So how about you all quit bashing a guy in a situation in which you clearly no nothing about."
The answer to your question is probably basstrak. But it is a mute point, because once he had realized what he had done...out of respect he should have conceded and given Dean his space. Which in my opinion just seems right and Christian for that matter. Isn't that what that's all about? That's what Alton is all about showing respect, courtesy and love to your fellow man. If he is supposed to be your brother? would you intentionally go get on top of your brother and diminish his chance of winning a tourney? I realize this goes on all the time at every level of competition fishing. Its the hypocrisy that ticks me off.

Someone is not telling the truth. One guy says he caught all his fish from that area. The other says that AJ never fished that area...Someone's lying--or they are using the "clinton defense"--it depends on what you mean by fishing...

So if y'all are saying everyone should give the leader his space and basically concede, then why not just end the tournament on Saturday? What's the purpose of Sunday?

Maybe BASS should give the leader buoys to mark his area off on day 4. No other angler can come into that area of public water for the whole day. The leader also gets to fish an hour longer than the other anglers and gets a net man(caddy service) for the final day. Also, BASS should have a hott girl in a bikini holding an umbrella and using a cold spray bottle on the leader on day 4, so he has some shade and cool mist for the day. Would hate for the elements of nature to hurt his chances of winning

BASS should have a hot girl in a bikini holding an umbrella and using a cold spray bottle on the leader on day 4, I'd be okay with this.
