Have you guys ever seen one that needed the top cap wet sanded?I dont know why,but they seem to never fade out compared to other boats of the same year models.Im mainly referring to the champs built in the 90s.

I think they fade like others. It just seems most of the ones still left around have been taken care of since day one or cleaned up recently. I've seen newer Rangers and Skeeters faded due to lack of care. I saw an early 2000 Champ on Fork that looked like it bounced off every stump in the lake too. Really it comes down to the owners and not the type of boat.

My 91 model faded, but it was due to no TLC for three years while working overseas. Sad that I don't have her anymore. The best boat I will ever own.

Im not trying to brag ,but my 94 and my next door neighbors 93 still shine like new.I hardly ever even wipe mine down and it sees a lot of tx sun,but still looks new.I see a lot of newer boats that look like hell on the top cap.I was thinking maybe champ did something different back in the day to help prevent oxidation but maybe not..

It's amazing how much longer gel coats last when the boat is stored inside.

Mine shines but I keep it covered and wiped down with bbs I am the third owner and lucky that the two guys who had it before me took very good care of it!
