I realize I am in the minority and will probably get bashed. I mean no disrespect and "everybody does it", but I do intentionally try to yank a female bass off her bed six feet in front of me.

The same could be said of shooting a big buck in rut walking down the middle of a road road with his head down following a doe.

I think the term is "fair chase".

Is anyone on the same page with me?

Bill

Like shooting a buck at the only water hole for miles around it had to come to it.

Interesting. I dont see anything wrong with this as long as you are practicing catch and release and are releasing the fish unharmed. I cant talk for every lake but the one in my neighbor hood the bass always return to their nest after being caught.

Can one become a master at fishing? Pshh... yes...

I love bed fishing and its not always as easy as it looks some are down right hard to catch. The first fish in my signature was a bed fish. I had worked on her for thirty min when another boat came by. The guys said we know what your on we alternated cast for an hour this morning on her and never got her. It was at this point I was determined tie of the boat on stumps front and back after 45 min an 20 different lure selections she finally took. She was promptly cpr'ed was back on the bed before I got untied. Fish get caught If handled properly they will be fine if you are fishing less than ten feet of water first of march thru last of may. There is I very good chance that fish is on a bed weather you can see it or not. My .02 is that only 10% of beds are ever visible anyway on less you are in gin clear water. So with this being said if you are aginst it I don't want to see you bass fishing in less than 20 feet of water. Nothing is better than watching a fish attack your lure so go have fun with them!

I don't think it hurts the fish at all, I can go catch the same 20 fish off the same 20 beds every single day if I wanted. You catch them, release them and they swim
Straight back to the bed and you can catch them again.

Agreed. And trout do the same thing. Yank them off the Redd and they go right back, and I have seen them on the bed a couple mins after release, start fanning the redd. Ya, this is not a Purist/PETA thread. Spring time in Texas is the easiest time for bank peeps and small water crafts. Your license says u can fish anywhere within the law, anyway you want to, and keep a limit everyday if you like. Bass in the area lakes are not on an endangered list, Broken Bow trout will never be on a list, crappie will never be depleted, sunfish will never be thinned out. Catch whatever, however, whenever you want. Bash me all you want. I'm used to it. Show me a fish, and I'll land it. Or, ill show "you", how to land it. The fish are not in the shallows just to spawn. They are there to play with flies and lures.
