Curious to know people's opinion on both the Dobyns 804 and 805 cranking rods. Deciding between that or a quantum 7'10" crank.

I have the 805cbrm and it is the ONLY deep diving rod that I'd use. I have had a couple others and I don't like how heavy fiberglass gets on longer rods. I use my 805 for deep cranking, but also use it for my alabama rig if I get the urge to throw it. This past month I threw a 1 oz trap with it. It handles these three applications for me flawlessly. It isnt heavy, I used it for about 8 hours one day.

I cant compare all of them for you because I only have the 805. It was the first rod I bought for deep cranking and glad I did. It handles the DD22 type baits really good and it will cast a long distance. It was built for that and you can tell. I have it paired with a Revo Winch and 12 pound floro line. The low gear reel is a must as well. For the fist time I do not get as tired throwing the big cranks. Maybe some other have used the other rods and can chime in. Good luck.

I have the 804CB and 764CBRM. The 804 will throw a 6XD fine, it will also throw a 3XD pretty far, I prefer it to the 764. I want another 804CB. Good for 1.5's also. It has a lighter tip but has plenty of backbone.
