I've had a couple of cheap sets of rain gear over the years, but I am ready to get some quality stuff. I know from photos posted on the board that many of you have nice gear. Any recommendations? Also, I know it's hard to balance breathability, protection, and heat retention or lack thereof when it's warmer. Do you guys own cold and mild weather rain gear or just one set? Thanks.

I use Frogg Toggs. They're light weight and pretty breathable. Not real warm but I layer up underneath them if I need to.

+1 on the Frogg Toggs. Great suit without breaking the bank.

I use 2 different suits,
1 for regular THE FOUL COLD-DAMP BAD DAYS and the other for the warmer but still chilly windy rainy days.
Both are Cabelas-
The foul weather suit is their Guide Wear, expensive, but
well worth the price- PARKA AND BIB-
WARM WARM DRY DRY REGARDLESS OF HOW WET OR COLD!

the 2nd suit is their Tru Dry-- PANTS AND JACKET-
which you can wear when the temp is chillY BUT NOT FREEZING COLD -
Both suits are wind and rain proof-
AND I wear them on those really cold or just
cool windy days whether raining or not- especially those early AM trips 1st out-
Invest in a pair of rain boots neoprene waterproof and that way your feet will be dry - nothing worse than wet cold feet-
LOOK FOR THE SALES YOU CAN GET A REAL PRICE DISCOUNT AT CERTAIN TIMES ON ALL THE ABOVE GEAR>

Henry David Thoreau said that "Some men fish all their lives without knowing it is really not the fish they are after."
I think that I am approaching this stage, that is to have
the opportunity and joy to go fishing and enjoy God's magnificent creation.

Thanks guys. Surprised by the frogg toggs suggestion. They just seem so "flimsy". I felt the material and was worried that it would tear easily. But they are inexpensive, that's for sure. Have you had problems with tearing?

I will check out the other suggested options too. Appreciate the feedback.

The frogg togs jackets are decent but the bibs seat ripped out in one trip on several sets

I use Frogg Toggs but if you're a smoker those things will look like someone took a branding iron to you fast. The only other complaint I have is the hood is too small when the rain pours.

Cabelas guide wear or Basspro 100mph. They are both $$$, but you will never have to buy again.

Frog Toggs ae great. I don't like a ral heavy rain gear because they are too hot. I got the bib bottoms for my second set and they keep me very dry. I should have worn them Sunday going back across the lake in the 3 foot swells!!

warmer times- I have a set of frogg toggs that are still working after 5 years.

Just got my bass pro 100 MPH suit and it is worth every penny. Fished a tournament last weekend in the rain and I was dry. Bibs are also good for the transition between spring and summer where it is cold in the morning. Wear shorts under them and pull them off when it warms up later in the day.
