Nothing that a few a$$ whippings won't cure. Pretty simple.

But that's what this debate is all about. Who needs the a$$ whipping?

The only thing you did wrong was not running over his line the first time he casted in front of you!

Want interesting encounters with fisherman, fish out of an aluminum boat. You will get cut off, crowded, buzzed, cussed at, name it--it happens. Life's too short to worry about it though. I make a living so I can fish--not fishing to make a living.

Just because you're in a tin rig doesn't mean that courtesy shouldn't be given or expected by other boaters. That's the problem with society in general these days. My time is no more valuable than yours. If you show me respect, I'll happily return the same. If you choose otherwise then don't expect much in return.

Conflict arises because we all have different expectations of one another. True, there are people who--for whatever reason--hate everything and everyone, and others who are just ignorant--not stupid, just don't know. But, for the most part, our conflicts in all of life have to do with your intrusion into my perceived "rights". And what we all feel is our "right" is different from one individual to another. The challenge (the same challenge we have always had) is to forgo MY rights for yours. Until we embrace this...we will always be at war with one another--whether we are on I35, Lake Fork, Afganistan.

I always try and take a good approach when things that may be veiwed as rude or inproper etiquette being on the water, at the ramp or getting a spot on a crowded parking lot. Here is a for instance from this past saturday, I wish fishing in a kind of confined area, it has several points along on side and about 300 feet of bank between these points, give or take a few feet. I was doing my deal down these pointsdipping in and out catching 3 or 4 fish along these points, I heard a motor crank up and looked and saw these two getlemen in a very nice Bass Boat, dont know if they were fishing a tournament or not, not that important but they were out there on the main point for a while, they zipped by me and hit the next point that I was heading to with my trolling motor. Now there was about 3 points behind me but they just waked me pretty good and started fishing. Now I would not be honest if I said it did not anger me a little because it did but I thought well maybe they are just having a bad day and really need to catch a fish or something or maybe they just did not know. Well i kind of just turned around and fished the point again i was just leaving and they fished that point they had to get to for about 5 minutes and then started moving down to the next one, once they cleared it I went down to the point they just left and caught 4 in a row. now they were not big but it was a tad gratifying for sure, Now this went on for about 45 minutes, I was getting ready to leave because all of these fish were clones of the 2 pound type. I know these fellas were watching pretty good and breaking there necks to see what I was throwing, heck I would have been more than happy to show them if they didn't drive by so fast. lol. I try to live by a few rules. Your job may controls a lot your time, Your wife Controls all of your check, Rude folks will try and control your space. What I control is how I wake up each morning and how I treat folks each day. I am blessed with a job, I love my wife and I am sure there is something good even in a rude person. there is a postive answer in each situation.

I am blessed to have a opportunity to live a childhood dream as a professional wrestler

If you think aluminum on the lakes is bad, try plastic in the ocean. thumb I was snagged in gloved hand by stinger treble on 10 inch live bait being trolled by chartered Sportfisherman out of Port Everglades Florida several years ago. Luckily it was going fast enough that it ripped my glove right off my hand before it could pull me over.

Size matters too!

This was earlier that same day on the way to the fishing grounds.

Two miles off Ft.Lauderdale, the guys that snagged me much latter that afternoon.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

He had his boat smack dab in the middle of the canal casting to the shoreline on the right of the canal, so we pointed to the left and slowly tried idling around him, as we did this he spun his chair around and casted to the left. We appoligized and said we didnt think he was fishing that side of the creek and put the boat into reverse to go to the right, as soon as we were parrell with him, now on the right side of him he casted over our boat and started cussing us out as if he owned the entire creek channel. After we exchanged a few words I thought to myself long and hard were we right or was he right. I truly think we did nothing wrong as we were not trying to fish in his spot just trying to get into the channel to fish a pocket we had seen some big girls swimming around in!!
We ended up catching all of our 3 keepers in that pocket along with losing a GIANT that swam right at me when I set the hook, I had no time to even get the rod tip in the water to keep her down. Hard pill to swallow when you cost your teamate a chance at a good check in Bass Champs. After a 4th place finish last yr we had high expectations this yr. Just wasn't meant to be!!

God bless and Tight Lines!!!

Just out of curiosity, were any of the words that you guys exchanged "excuse us but we are trying to get by"? I bet he thought you were trying to potlick. The guy still sounds like a huge Azzole but I wonder if the outcome would have been different if you announced what you were trying to do before it got to a heated exchange. If it didn't change the outcome then I like what Doug said.
