Good evening fellas, this year I'm planning to do some shakey head fishing, never used this technique so what jig head do you use? I bought some Hag's tornados and can't wait to use these with a shakey head. And also do y'all prefer a spinning set up or bait cast set up to use a shakey head? Any tips will help me out, thanks!

I use a 3/16 oz Spot Remover hook, in some cases I'll use a 1/4 oz. I use a Zoom green pumpkin trick worm with the tail dipped in chartruese 95% of the time. If the water is really murky I'll use a darker color worm.

I use a Lew's SpeedSpool baitcaster, with a 6 1/2 foot Falcon Bucoo MH rod and 12lb floro. I really see no need to use a spincast for shakey head fishing...baitcaster works very well.

Falcon lowrider weightless worm with a 6:4:1 gear ratio baitcast reel with 15lb seagar invisx. For the hook I use a owner shakyhead ultrahead my favorite size is the 3/16oz and I always throw a zoom trick work on them. They are a great bait to get a quick limit but not to much size. Good luck tightlines!

I like the Piglet shaky head by Santone Lures. It's got a beefier hook on it than most other brands. It's made for catching big fish. We've caught some big fish on it this week at Lake Fork. Check out my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/lakeforkguides for pics.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best of luck!

7' M spinning outfit. 15lb braid with 8 or 10 lb. fluorocarbon leader. 3/32-1/8 oz jighead. Any number of straight tail worms work well and something like small beaver style bait is a different look that gets me some bites too.

Strike King 1/8 oz. KVD shakey head jig, spinning reel, 6'6" medium rod with 12 lb. mono (P-line CX Premium). 1/4 oz. jig if it is too windy for 1/8 oz.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I like a little stiffier rod than most people when it comes to DS,Wacky,Shakey head, I think I can feel things better, with that said I have 2 setups almost the same, 2-6'8" MH All Star ASM spinning Rods,1-Orra SX, and 1-Orra S, use Dirty jigs Magnum Stand up heads, Abrazx 12lb, zoom baits and Double zz Baits.

Favorite technique! I use the Falcon Cara Jeff Kriet Squirrel Tail rod and a Falcon Volt 2500 spinning reel. 10 lb Power Pro mainline with a 6 or 8 lb fluorocarbon leader. Various 1/8th and 3/16 football head jig heads. I usually use Roboworms or Big Bite Bait Squirrel Tail worms.
