Knowing that Sat was suppose to have the front come through we decided to try our luck Friday. I looked at 2 weather reports and they said the low tonight was going to be 63deg at 3 am. Boy were they totally wrong! Well... I'm not gonna say exactly how many we caught/kept, but it was 2x 5gal buckets full. Thank you every one for leaving the lake to us. Doppler cove payed off big time! lol Fishing 5 feet down in 10 fow, water temp was 65deg, 2/3 moon over head, live bait, Burgers cooking on the grill on the front deck, my brother and tourney Partner Tommy. It really wasn't fair! It was a great time with non stop fish! Even though we were freezing.. we fought through it and did not realize just how cold we were due to the bite! We were having so much fun we did not stop fishing till we ran out of live and dead bait at 1:30. We arrived home at 0200 and finished cleaning fish at 0300. Here is the first bucket full, on the Infamous Picnic table of mine.

nothing like some tasty granger crappie!!!
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Again! We fished till we ran out of minnows! Just Tommy and I this time. We ended up with more than a 5 gal bucket full again! The river was busy this evening.. I mean Doppler Cove! lol From what I could see, we were the only ones that were consistently catching fish... around us any way. Good seeing you out there Brian!
Now, for a bit of a rant.
1. There are a lot of good places to fish in the river. There is no need to tie up within 20 yards of someone. We got out to a place we normally fish and tied up. we had been there 20 min when this family pulls up and ties up directly across from us. They were no farther than 20 yards.. if that. Then another boat pulls 10yards south of them. I think 50 yards is a nice buffer as I would not pull upon someone any closer than that.
2. If someone is catching fish and they are within casting distance, it is not ok to cast across the river next to their corks. I do not care if its a kid or an adult. Its common courtesy. When your kids does it explain to them why it is wrong and do not let them keep doing it. Don't just laugh at it. Even though it did not affect our fishing and we still caught fish, its just rude.
3. AGAIN PEOPLE! LIGHTS SHOULD SHINE IN THE WATER! THEY SHOULD NOT SHINE ACROSS THE WATER BLINDING EVERYONE AROUND YOU. Green lights IN the water work best! All of you that have the ones on the top of the sides of your boat look cool, but wastes the light and have missed the point. It is very hard for the people around you and for you to be able to see your baits if someones flood lights are shining directly into your eyes. If you wonder why you do not catch as many fish as we do this is the #1 reason! Also to light up your boat interior use a light on a pole that shines down, into the boat! I do not think it is too hard to figure out how to make a light that does this... I did! Someone correct me if I am wrong.. Wildman (Danny) or anyone else, does my Pole light blind you as you have gone by me?
Even though common sense and courtesy is non-existant, I still do not let it ruin my trip. We always catch fish, if there are fish to be caught. I know we were annoying everyone as were were out-fishing them and pulling fish after fish into the boat. On the water everything you say is easily heard and we heard the grumblings. Learn from these posts, the guys who do it right, and you will too.
