Got to the ramp at ten. Pushed john boat down the concrete ramp. The little creek is two feet deep to river channel used troll motor. Fished trees where river and creek meet Set up green and white lights. Fished dropoff 14 foot to 19 foot channel. Dropped minnows to various depths. Eight feet was where they were at. Jigged next to structure. That seemed to make them bite. Caught twenty crappie to 13 inches and one striper nineteen. Only five keeper crappie though. Sleepy left em bitin at one. Tough to push boat back up that steep ramp. Kayak would be good. If you jig all those trees i feel you could clean house.

What kind of jigs do you use? I went out there today with minnows and caught a dozen black crappie along with some whites. All were caught along the stumps and trees.

How big is your Jon boat? Did u fish by yourself? I can see where it could be a @#$% to launch at #11 with it closed. Got a Jon myself want to go up there and fish but mine is 14 ft and don't want to deal with it.

When I was out on Friday, I caught almost all fish on live minnows on a hook with a splitshot a foot and a half above the hook. I was trying to find trees that were a little deeper out in the river channel. I would drop to the bottom and work my way up. They seemed to be at different depths, I caught one right under my kayak. I went out there last night, had a brilliant idea to fish with lights and tie off to the trees. Wasn't a great idea last night, was rather windy, I didn't really feel comfortable being on a kayak in the pitch dark(I do have lights for my yak and myself) I stuck around for a hour or so and caught two smallerish crappie. I am going to make a trip tomorrow or Tuesday. This time I think I will start by going downriver and paddle back up to the ramp, versus vice versa

14 foot v hull. Slide it off trailer. Or u could slide it down the hill. I carried it two years ago when creek was dry. No fun. But it was worth it. Limits of striper and a few whites and blue cats

So do you park outside of the park and walk your boat in? Is there a gate you drive around?

There is a cable blocking access to the boat ramp with a sign that says RAMP CLOSED. There is ample space to walk around the cable. I just drag my kayak on the grassy "shoulder" off of the concrete. Just drag it right down to the water and hop in.

So do you park outside of the park and walk your boat in? Is there a gate you drive around? Just park in the designated parking area and transport you're kayak or canoe from there to the water. Not saying it's anyone who has posted here, but it's those that try to be cute and drive around barracades so they don't have to walk a few feet that will get access completely shut off for everyone.

Ahh it all makes sense. We tried to go to a park the other day and it had a gate out of visible range of the water. Thought this might be the same but all things have been clarified

Thought this might be the same but all things have been clarified That is a private (property owners) park and they will run you off if you aren't authorized to use it. The parking lot and ramp outside of that gate is Comal County maintained, but the property around the parking lot and beyond, and either side of the ramp is private so be advised. Years ago when I first started fishing that cove the gate was hardly ever closed and one of the guys that runs one of the bait shops there at the lake was telling people they could fish from the bank inside that park.....Long story short, they ran people off and threatened folks with trespassing.
