Went up river this morning at canyon lake and tore up my transom and lower unit boats beat up pretty good it's going to take about 5 grand worth of work to get it going it looks like the river is down since Sunday I hit a stump that was in boat channel but not visible I hit it about 15mph and almost threw my passenger in the water I've heard a lot of people talking about canyon so I tried it if anyone else decides to please be careful it is a dangerous place right now with the water being down so much

Yeah sorry to hear that reel fisher man like to meet you someday . I was upriver yesterday morning. And this one spot i fished on sunday was down three inches on a certain rock i fished i remember. Its seems to be dropping by the day dont know how low its gonna get we hit some stumps and put some hickeys on are boat. And yes there are now some stumps in the main river channel its only gonna get worse and that 3inch. Drop starting to affect the fishing there in another week probably wont even be worth the hassle to even try. That river cant afford to get to much lower unless we get some significant rain you wont be the only one to tear up your boat.

Do y'all mean close to the river channel? Trees didn't grow in the Guadalupe River.

So you guys don't think one of those giant cypress trees could have grown next to the river channel 100 years ago? I was driving along one day about 20 mph before Cordova cut and happened to look over the side. A freaking stump at least 2 ft across in 30ft of water! I cringed at the thought of hitting that giant mother.

Sorry to hear about your boat.

Sorry about your boat. I know that river like the back of my hand, but you got to stay in the channel to navigate. Yes you will hit stuff in the channel too. Good Luck with repairs. fish

A cypress will grow directly in the middle of the old creel channel if its shallow enough before it flooded.

There are lots of places(on many lakes) where there are old cut off cypress stumps that were cut to be no where near the surface at pool level.

My bad. While the trees do not grow up in the middle of a flowing river channel I have floated enough down every river in Texas and yes trees do very well on little "islands" in the middle of the river, especially Cypress trees. Sorry about your boat, hope you have insurance!
