(Had this in the open freshwater section)

So my loving girlfriend surprised me with a new Revo S and a Veritas rod for my birthday last week grin. I threw on some 30# Suffix and put it through its paces a couple of days ago. All in all, it's a dream compared to the cheaper Quantums that I've been using for a while now.

I have noticed that it's a little rough on the retrieve with the braid however. Especially when a fish is on or the line is running against one side of the rod guides. Normal? (reel is smooth as silk with no line on)

Also, as this is my first $100+ reel, I'm inclined to change my habits and take care of this one and make it last. Any tips/hints are appreciated.

I've noticed the same thing with my Revo S. I don't think it's any big deal.

Keep it clean/lubed and rinse it after each use with freshwater even if you're only fishing freshwater. Just my suggestion.

I have the first series Revo S. Had it for about 4 years now and all it has ever had is 30lb power pro on it. I have it on a vendetta rod and it is my go to for anything. Yes it is a little rough feelin with braid but not bad. The only problem I have had is the pawl went bad bout 2 years ago, had it fixed and now its going bad again so I ordered a ceramic pawl that should fix that for good.

most reels feel like poopoo when retrieved under strain with braid.
