Our club tourney is this weekend on Palestine. I havent fished there before but everywhere Im reading is saying kickapoo is the hot spot. Has to be ton of pressure up north being prespawn activity moving to shallows, so Im thinking of staying away, plust the stumps! Not asking for your honey hole but anybody got a good heads up? Any thoughts appreciated

Fish haven't made it to mid-lake yet.....Flat Creek is a very safe bet but since you're new to the lake, I would just plan on it taking you a good 30-45 minutes at least to slowly make your way to the back of Flat. Will help you account for this time during a tournament.

There are fish all over the lake. Kickapoo isn't necessarily a guarantee as I found out last Friday.

Leadbetter (easy to get around, plenty of stumps near bridge and out front of Palestine Resort.

The pics above and below are from the area towards the back of it.

Flat Creek (lots of good water on the way to the back)

Pics above and below are about a mile down from the bridge. Lots of room for lots of fishermen...most fish the left side going up creek.

Kickapoo...money trail. West side of creek channel the best for me. The fish bite even with lots of boaters in there. The windier the better.

route above is from (bottom of pic) public ramp at Kickapoo to my usual fishing spots...you would take a more direct rout as I fish from a kayak and you couldn't make it between land and island in north part of screen shot. Where the cross hairs are is where the best fishing starts along creek channel to where I turn around and come back in top. If you can make it to the bridge in one piece its not that big a deal to idle back to where the boaters will be. Lots of grass growing back there and you will catch some fish. Lots of target to throw at.

Kickapoo
pic above is from far north end of trail in screen shot headed back towards bridge. This is where most of the fish are caught from fishing and observing in my opinion.

good luck

Flat or Kickapoo if you want to compete...also don't worry about staying away because you feel it's getting hammered. New fish are moving up everyday

With no rain in the forecast and water levels where they are and falling, it is very easy to get stuck in Kickapoo. I put in at the ramp in Kickapoo Friday. 2.5 foot out to lake and then drug bottom to get to bridge and main creek. Stuck 2 times and had to push pole off. Be careful up that way. Lots of boats fishing there as well. Big stringers but in and out time makes it hard to fish with tourney time constraints.
